D’une intelligence exceptionnelle, George était l’un des meilleurs étudiants de l’Université d’Oklahoma. Son sens de l’analyse et sa détermination ont poussé ses professeurs à prendre, petit à petit, ses questions et ses remarques au sérieux. George McLaurin est considéré, jusques aujourd’hui, l’un des meilleurs étudiants de l’université.
C’est en 1948 que George McLaurin présente sa demande de candidature à l’Université d’Oklahoma. Sa demande fut rejetée avant d’être acceptée le 29 septembre 1948 par acte juridique.
- Le mouvement des droits civiques aux États-Unis
La fin de la guerre civile américaine en 1865 marque effectivement la fin de l’esclavage. Cependant, les afro-américains avaient, devant eux, un long combat à mener pour obtenir tous leurs droits.
A partir de 1870, tout citoyen mâle avait le droit de voter. Toutefois, les noirs étaient découragés de le faire par peur des répercussions. En 1896, la Cours Suprême a décidé de maintenir la ségrégation raciale dans les entreprises privées, les universités et les écoles. Les noirs étaient donc traités comme des citoyens de seconde classe.
Le mouvement américain des droits civiques (Civil right movement) est apparu durant les années 1960.
Tout commence au printemps 1963 lorsque Asa Philip Randolph, leader du mouvement des droits civiques, envisage d’organiser une marche à la capitale américaine Washington pour l’emploi des personnes noires.
« Les noirs veulent la même chose que ce qu’ont les blancs : tous leurs droits. Ils veulent l’égalité sur tous les plans, l’égalité sociale, politique et économique » déclare-t-il.
Martin Luther King s’est aussi associé à Asa Philip Randolph pour organiser un rassemblement pour la liberté. Ils rencontrent, en 1963, le président Kennedy qui accepte de soutenir leur projet.
Le 3 juillet 1964 et en présence de Martin Luther King, le président Lyndon Johnson signe le « Civil Rights Act ».
La discrimination raciale est ainsi devenue illégale officiellement.

I think that what you said made a ton of sense. But, consider this,
what if you composed a catchier post title? I ain’t suggesting your content isn’t solid.,
however suppose you added a title that grabbed people’s attention? I mean George Maclaurin, son histoire – Français Easy is
a little boring. You might look at Yahoo’s home page and watch how they create post titles to get people to click.
You might try adding a video or a related pic
or two to get people interested about what you’ve written.
In my opinion, it would bring your posts a little livelier.
